Lizzie's journey into massage began after graduating with a BA in Psychology from UNC at Greensboro. While working as a research assistant for a Psychology professor at the UNC at Chapel Hill, Lizzie was introduced to alternative methods of healing including naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and massage. With her background in psychology, Lizzie became interested in how the body "remembers", and how past physical or emotional traumas - even daily stressors - create a disharmony in a person's body, mind and spirit. Deciding to abandon a more clinical technique, Lizzie moved home to study massage and take a more hands-on approach to helping others.
Lizzie studied and graduated from Natural Touch School of Massage in 2003 and received her massage license. She began doing massage part-time until securing a position at Chakras Spa as a full-time massage therapist in 2004. She then became the massage department manager and continued working at the spa until December of 2008. In 2009 Lizzie decided to open her own massage practice, Being Balanced, Inc. to work on a more regular and deeper level with her clients - helping them maintain well-being and bring about balance in their lives.
Lizzie spends her time away from massage with her family, friends and 3 dogs. She loves yoga, nature, hiking, gardening, cooking and most of all laughing.
